Children\u2019s resilience is their ability to cope with challenging situations and circumstances, which is shaped in part by where they live, such as their neighborhood. Important resources in the neighborhood\u2014like a supportive school, caring neighbor, safe playground, or observant volunteer\u2014can make a significant difference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Strengthening children\u2019s resilience is not solely the government\u2019s responsibility. Neighborhood professionals, welfare organizations, the municipality, researchers, and residents\u2014both young and old\u2014can all contribute. Together, we create thriving neighborhoods and ensure children grow up healthy, happy, and resilient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
THE CORNER PROJECT<\/strong>
In the CORNER project, local residents (children and adults), welfare organizations, the municipality, and researchers join forces. We investigate the Rotterdam neighborhoods of Bospolder-Tussendijken, Rubroek\/Oud-Crooswijk, and Reyeroord to identify the places, people, and activities that foster children\u2019s resilience. We explore how these factors vary between neighborhoods and what more can be done to strengthen them. Our goal is to collaboratively enhance resilience for children across Rotterdam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
